Kalamaki

Kalamaki, a small restaurant in the North Shore town of Roslyn, New York took over the space of a take out deli. Being under 1,000 square feet, for both the kitchen and dining area, part of the goal was to make the space feel larger than it is. This was done through the use of forced perspective. The length and skew of the counters elongate the space while the portions seemingly carved out of them both direct and embrace the customer.

Walnut guide lines were built into the floor, containing fields of tile. Cork and a bright green acrylic were used to add a touch of playfulness to the space.

Due to the intricate nature of the millwork and display case we were intimately involved in the fabrication and installation of these elements.
